G-Guide Mobile

3carrier.jpgG-GUIDE MOBILE is Gemstar-TV Guide International’s electronic program listings service for mobile handsets in Japan, and is patterned after the G-GUIDE electronic program guide (EPG).  A hallmark of the G-GUIDE MOBILE service is the “G-GUIDE EPG Remote,” which combines the functions of a classic TV program guide with a remote control.  It enables viewers to easily view and record their favorite TV programs anytime and anywhere.  G-GUIDE MOBILE currently has 13.75 million registered users on three major Japanese cell phone carriers – NTT DoCoMo, au Mobile by KDDI, and SoftBank. (as of March 8, 2007, according to D2 Communications).  Recent innovations to the G-GUIDE MOBILE service include the pre-installation on DoCoMo’s FOMA 903i series cell phones, and remote scheduling functions on DVD recorders such as Sony’s Sugoroku and Panasonic’s DIGA series.

  • Free of charge for use of the service *1
  • A maximum of eight days of program information can be retrieved

  • Remotely control TV, video, and DVD players from within the program guide *3

Characteristics of G-GUIDE MOBILE Program Guide:

  • Subscribes to all programs from analog terrestrial broadcasters
  • Easily set up timer to record programs from within the program guide; Timer record feature by infrared communications *4
  • Displays detailed descriptions of programs
  • Displays a detailed description of a panel ad with a single point of a cursor
  • Ability to rotate displayed panel ads by pressing a single key *5
