PlusCode numbers are 1 to 8 digit numbers that correspond to individually listed television programs and are published in newspapers and television guides around the world. When the PlusCode number is input into the user's recording device, the desired show will be automatically recorded.

PlusCode numbers are a standard in television listings published in the United States, Canada, and more than 30 other countries around the world. Virtually every leading newspaper in North America features PlusCode numbers. TV Guide^® publishes PlusCode numbers on its Web site, www.tvguide.com

Licensees

The VCR Plus system has been licensed to virtually every major VCR and DVD recorder manufacturer and is available in more than 30 countries and 6 continents, including the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Continental Europe, Japan, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, South America and South Africa.

How it works:

• The user simply enters the PlusCode number into the recording equipment;
• The date, time and channel of the program to be recorded will be displayed instantly on the screen or on the recording device. The user can choose to record the program just once, daily or on a weekly basis;
• When the time comes for the desired TV show to be recorded, VCR Plus automatically powers-on most recording equipment;
• The system automatically tunes the channel and records the show the user wishes to tape and then automatically powers-off most recording equipment once the show has finished recording;
• Two new features built into recording devices-VCR Plus GOLD and VCR Plus SILVER-automate the set-up procedure and even set the clock, making VCR Plus even more user-friendly.
